L’Antica Quercia was founded in 1967 in Scomigo, a small hillside hamlet of Conegliano, in the heart of the Treviso hills. The estate covers around 30 hectares in a single continuous property, a rare feature in this area. Since 2007, the entire hillside has been certified organic, and since 2018 the winery has followed the principles of biodynamic farming, with certification currently in progress.
The vineyards are mainly dedicated to Glera, divided into twelve plots with different soil characteristics, exposures and landforms. Each plot is vinified separately, with fermentations using indigenous yeasts and without the use of settling enzymes or other winemaking aids. Alongside Glera, the estate grows Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Marzemino for Colli di Conegliano Rosso, as well as small vineyards of Riesling, Chardonnay and Incrocio Manzoni, which will also be used to produce Colli di Conegliano Bianco.
In the cellar, stainless steel, concrete and amphorae are used, exploring different vinification and maceration methods while respecting the characteristics of the grapes. Bottle-refermented wines are made using must from the same vintage and indigenous yeasts, while one of the labels, A, is produced using the ancestral method. Sulphur dioxide is used in limited quantities, only when necessary. The range also includes two styles of sparkling Glera produced using the Martinotti Method.
Particular attention is devoted to preserving the estate’s viticultural heritage: the winery has a mother vineyard obtained from old vines through massal selection, used for replacement plantings.
The biodiversity of the hillside is also expressed through the cultivation of olive trees and pomegranates, as well as beehives managed by local beekeepers. The grape pomace is also used to produce the estate’s own grappa. In 2025, this connection with the territory was further strengthened with La Ghiandaia, the estate’s farmhouse created to welcome guests directly on the hillside.
