“I do not want to live in Aosta.” “I will never work in a vineyard!” Elisabetta and Matteo Sedda once said both. That changed in 2016, after sommelier training led them beyond tasting to curiosity about where wine begins.
From the start, Vintage sought a restrained approach in both vineyard and cellar. Its aims are to protect the land and fruit’s character while restoring old Aosta Valley vineyards, including vines aged fifty to eighty years that might otherwise be uprooted.
For them, labels such as ‘natural’ or ‘organic’ matter less than the substance of the work: making clear, distinctive agricultural wines with the least environmental impact possible. The grower’s role is that of custodian, protecting the vineyard and the integrity of its vines.
