Vino Gross makes wines that express the distinctive terroir of Štajerska Slovenija, shaped by both their soils and the influence of maturation. In Gorca, in the picturesque Haloze region, the family’s vineyards occupy steep terraces at 350–400 metres above sea level. The nearby Alps and Adriatic Sea influence the climate, while poor limestone soils encourage deep roots, giving the wines elegance, concentration and a long finish.
Founded by Michael and Maria Gross, the estate places sustainability, organic cultivation and manual vineyard care at the heart of its work. Fermentation is spontaneous and maturation slow, in wooden barrels. The wines are bottled unfiltered and without fining agents. Harvesting these steep slopes demands dedication, reflected in every bottle.
