Vigneti Vumbaca is based in Cirò, in the heart of Calabria’s wine country. Of its thirteen hectares, six are planted with vines on hillsides of mixed clay and sand or clay and limestone. Traditional spur-pruned cordon and bush training are used, with strictly organic cultivation.
After fifteen years in Rome, studying and working as a lawyer, Christian Vumbaca returned home to realise a longstanding ambition. In 2019 he began making his own wine, bringing to fruition a project started years earlier by his mother Silvana and uncle Enzo.
The estate combines tradition with new ideas, paying particular attention to restoring old bush vines, which also feature in its logo. Gaglioppo and Greco Bianco are joined by Magliocco and Pecorello, native varieties that express the area’s identity.
Vigneti Vumbaca reflects a close connection between people, land and culture, guided by love for its region and respect for its traditions.
