From 2018, sisters Alessandra and Nicoletta and their father Daniele left Milan for Andria, Puglia, to work at Torrerivera. Their great-grandfather Riccardo founded the farm in 1933, principally growing olives and vines.
They continue a quality olive-oil project begun in 2011, built around a short supply chain, organic farming and biodiversity. The fifty-six hectares of estate olive groves are farmed organically, with fruit processed in the on-site mill within hours of picking. Single-variety oils champion olive cultivars at risk of disappearing.
The wider project includes conversion of around twenty hectares of vines, whole-farm organic certification, woodland restoration, an orchard and a vegetable garden for local produce and preserves.
For Torrerivera, continuity with the family’s work means combining tradition with better production methods. Quality, care and ongoing learning guide the estate’s development.
