Torrazzetta is a longstanding wine estate in Oltrepò Pavese. It was founded in 1984, when Gianna and Franco decided to convert the entire farm to organic agriculture, becoming the area’s first organic winery. That pioneering choice established a lasting commitment to quality and sustainability.
The estate grows and vinifies only its own organic grapes, handling every stage from crushing to ageing in stainless steel, barriques or amphorae, through to bottling and packaging. It is also one of the few Oltrepò Pavese wineries to carry out every stage of traditional-method sparkling wine production in-house: tirage, bottle fermentation, hand riddling, disgorgement and dosage.
Since Sergio took the helm in 2012, the approach has become more rigorous still. Going beyond organic farming, Torrazzetta favours spontaneous fermentation, avoids filtration and keeps sulphites to a minimum, seeking wines that express their terroir and vintage.
Only the finest selection is bottled each year, producing approximately 25,000–30,000 bottles, with quality at the centre of every stage.
