“When my grandfather was alive and we came walking here, he would say: right here, this is where the brigands stayed.” Carmine De Cicco’s story begins in a landscape near the Taburno massif, between Contrada Colli’s hay barn, Fontana Greca and Ferrarise woodland. Memories of brigands during Italian unification remain in the estate’s name and labels.

Terra di Briganti was founded in 2001. Grapes initially went to a cooperative, before Tony and Romeo De Cicco decided to make wine themselves, continuing a passion passed through two generations. Visits to northern Italian vineyards and cellars helped shape their direction.

They chose organic production, completing three years of conversion and obtaining European organic certification in 2004. Interest in biodynamics followed in 2013; study and training led to Demeter certification in 2017.

Bees and a pair of cows contribute to biodiversity, with the cows providing manure for the farm. Approximately four of the seven hectares grow Falanghina, Fiano, Sciascinoso and Aglianico.

Every decision, from bottles and cartons to tank washing, aims to reduce the estate’s environmental footprint.

Terra di Briganti shares the vision of Evoluzione Naturale. Come and discover their stories and wines.
