Tenuta Baroni Campanino began in 2006 in the Umbrian Apennines behind Assisi. Its name recalls the historic Campanino barons of the Kingdom of Naples, whose legacy inspires the estate’s care for its surroundings, food, wine and activities for visitors.
Ten hectares of vineyards lie at 500–900 metres within the protected Monte Subasio park. Steep slopes demand manual work where machinery cannot pass, with terraces, anchor points, ropes and poles helping growers negotiate the terrain.
The estate combines organic certification with biodynamic principles, seeking a balanced habitat in which vines grow alongside nature and interventions are made only when needed. Vineyard and cellar work follows lunar phases. Fermentation and maturation temperatures are not controlled.
Altitude, light, soils and biodiversity shape the approach. The growers use trellised vines and inverted Guyot pruning, believing that a lightly modified farming system best preserves its natural balance.
Yields and production are limited. Some wines are not made when a vintage fails to meet the estate’s quality criteria. The aim is to let each year express its own story and terroir.
