Sopravvento was born in Carema, at the foot of the Alps, among the stone terraces of one of Piedmont’s most striking wine landscapes. Its name evokes a challenge: going against the wind to grow grapes naturally, independently and consistently.
Michele, Matteo and Oreste, three former sommeliers, founded the project to move to the other side of the glass and rediscover the essential meaning of wine.
Their Nebbiolo vines grow on steep, historic mountain terraces, where every task is carried out by hand. They avoid synthetic products and care for the soil and its biodiversity. In the cellar, fermentation is spontaneous, without selected yeasts or additives, and the wines are neither fined nor filtered.
The result is a range of vivid, expressive wines that convey the character of this demanding landscape and the determination of the people who farm it. Sopravvento is a commitment to nature, the mountains and wine as an expression of place and community.
