Sergio and his brother Francesco inherited more than land: they also inherited winemaking knowledge and a passion for working in the fields. They are the fourth generation to run the Sergio Arcuri estate, which makes organic artisan wines. Their great-grandfather Peppe founded it in the late nineteenth century in Cirò, on Calabria’s Ionian coast.
Alongside growing Gaglioppo, the area’s traditional grape variety, Sergio and Francesco began bottling their own artisan wines without added chemical products. In doing so, they continued the project their father had started when he established a cellar in the 1970s.
