Domenico Valente of Pandalà is the fourth generation of a Trani winegrowing family. The farm traditionally produced mainly table grapes and a little wine fruit. In 2017 the family began creating a cellar and renewing its focus on Moscato di Trani, with the aim of sharing it beyond the town.
Boccadoro takes its name from the nearby natural area. It is a small production from a small vineyard, approximately 200 metres from the sea and 600 metres from the Boccadoro basin.
The setting supports fully ripe Moscato for passito. Calcareous tuff soils and dry farming shape its character; the growers credit the tuff with supplying water and nourishment through summer and autumn, and the wine with a distinctive mineral quality.
