“My family has been at Pācina for five generations: my parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and the generation before them. Women and men, their stories intertwined.
Before me, my mother Lucia played the leading role in Pācina’s wine. Thanks to her, the first bottle without added sulphur dioxide was made in 1987, the ancestor of the wine Stefano and I make today. A biologist and writer, she always believed in this land. She taught me to trust my instincts and follow nature’s rhythms.
Love for this place is the thread connecting those stories. Respect for nature has always come first. My father Enzo, who is no longer with us, was an environmentalist and much more. Early Legambiente meetings took place in Pācina’s garden; he helped initiate and co-found the movement.
Through him, I grew up among thinkers, scientists and farmers. It was easy to understand, as an adult, that farming and making wine begin with respect for everything around us.”
