“As custodians of our land in Calabria, we respectfully observe the natural development of its elements, making still and sparkling wines with a Calabrian origin and identity.” These are Mario Alberto Romano’s words for Origine & Identità.
A graduate of Catanzaro’s agricultural technical institute, Mario worked in several fields, most recently hospitality, before turning to wine. Love for his region and good wine led him to study production methods and eventually make his own still and sparkling wines.
Experience and advice from artisanal growers in Cirò encouraged a focus on spontaneous fermentation. The cellar is in Brivadi, a small village in the Capo Vaticano hills, at 130 metres above sea level, on a property of approximately four hectares.
Production centres on native varieties including Zibibbo, Malvasia and Magliocco Canino.
