Nuzzella lies on Etna’s eastern slopes, at approximately 500 metres between Piedimonte Etneo and Linguaglossa. Here white sedimentary ground cut by streams meets black soils formed by successive lava flows. Local farmers called one lava-covered strip Terremorte, recalling land submerged by the volcano.
In 2014 the growers began restoring an olive grove and an old vineyard of native Nerello Mascalese and Carricante, four hectares in total. Respect for local traditions and grapes underpins the wines.
There are no herbicides or synthetic products. Small amounts of copper and sulphur, annual green manure of legumes and grasses, and pheromone-based insect management support their environmental approach.
Trellised vines grow at 5,000 plants per hectare. Work is carried out carefully by hand throughout the year, under certified organic practices.
Nuzzella shares the vision of Evoluzione Naturale. Come and discover their stories and wines.
