Bodega Malaparte brings an independent, artisanal and sometimes deliberately funky spirit to winemaking in Cuéllar, in Castile and León. Mariano de Frutos began the project in 1996 by buying 3.5 hectares of old Tempranillo vineyards once owned by his ancestors. The first label followed in 2004, and the present cellar was established in 2007.

The estate farms 5.5 hectares according to organic principles, encouraging soil fertility through spontaneous ground cover and sustainable practices. At 900 metres above sea level, its limestone and sandy soils experience pronounced differences between daytime and night-time temperatures.

The vineyards include Tempranillo, Syrah, Muscat and 75-year-old Grenache vines, alongside other traditional grapes. In the cellar, temperature-controlled stainless steel, terracotta amphorae, and French and American oak provide different ways to develop each wine.

In 2013, the crowdfunded Uvas Nómadas project began exploring traditional grapes from different parts of Castile and León. Its spirit of experimentation also appears in wines such as Ox, an oxidative white matured in glass demijohns outdoors.

Bodega Malaparte and Callmewine, which presents the estate in Italy, share the values of Evoluzione Naturale.
