“When you are young, you do not always know which path is right for you. Then life changes you. Nature teaches you the rhythm of the seasons when you learn to respect it; friends who share your passions help you reach further.” These words introduce Lodovica Lusenti, the youngest of three daughters, who chose to remain on the family estate and care for its vineyards.
Her wines come from her own Bonarda, Malvasia di Candia Aromatica and Ortrugo. In the cellar she seeks to bring out each variety while preserving the ripe, healthy fruit delivered by the vineyard. Human intervention stays light, without rushing the natural transformation into wine.
Lusenti is based in Vicobarone, in Ziano Piacentino’s Val Tidone. In keeping with local custom, it continues selling wine in demijohns, preserving a family tradition and meeting enthusiasts who enjoy bottling it themselves: ‘proud of their wine, which is also ours’.
