L’Archetipo’s story reaches back several decades. Francesco Valentino Dibenedetto, a farmer from childhood who later became an agronomist, is the son of lifelong vine grower Carlo Dibenedetto. He began converting the family estate to organic farming in the 1980s.
Yet he felt that the vitality of his soils was not improving as it should. After studying Rudolf Steiner’s work, he turned to biodynamics in 2000. A few years later, he still sensed that something was preventing the soil, ecosystem and vineyard from returning to their original balance.
His understanding of Masanobu Fukuoka’s ideas eventually led him to synergistic farming: an approach intended to be fully sustainable by allowing all the elements of the ecosystem to work together. Central to that approach is giving up ploughing, which Francesco regards as a fundamental mistake still made in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture.
He shares this new chapter with his wife Anna Maria and their four children: Carlo Nazareno, Domenico, Andrea and Maria Clelia. They grow Primitivo, Aglianico, Negroamaro, Fiano and Greco, alongside once-forgotten varieties such as Maresco, Marchione and Susumaniello.
L’Archetipo shares the vision behind Evoluzione Naturale. Come and hear their stories and taste their wines.
