In 1997 Amedeo Iafrati and his wife Graziella bought nearly two hectares on a sunny, south-facing hill at Isola del Liri, near Frosinone, at 340 metres. They wanted a place where their children could play outdoors. The old grove held around two hundred neglected olive trees, which they restored before beginning to make oil.
In 2008 they planted 800 square metres of Syrah and Cabernet on very rocky ground. Their first family harvest in 2012 inspired a further 9,000 square metres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Riesling in 2014. The first harvest as an artisanal winery followed in 2017; on 13 July 2018 they bottled 4,600 bottles of wine.
With determination they built a small, practical cellar. Their way of life and collaboration with Vignaviva Agroenologia guided organic management without chemical fertilisers, herbicides or synthetic products. Green manure, manual and mechanical soil work, plant extracts and copper or sulphur only when necessary support vineyard care.
Their aim is honest, artisanal wine that they themselves enjoy.
