Il Trave began with three young people’s wish to make products that express the land cherished by their grandparents, farmers who had passed their values down through generations.
They wanted to follow earlier winegrowers and bring back the flavours of their childhood, resisting products whose tastes and colours seemed shaped more by markets than by the soil.
Their natural wines come from old Aglianico and Coda di Volpe vineyards on Paternopoli’s gentle slopes, without artificial additions. These plots had almost been abandoned because of low yields and the difficulty of mechanising their cultivation.
Il Trave’s challenge is to restore these near-century-old vines and show how much they still have to offer.
