Maddalena and Paolo Ghislandi founded I Carpini in 1998 in the Tortona hills, where Piedmont meets Lombardy and Emilia. Their ambition was to make ‘wines of art’: authentic expressions of their surroundings, capable of evolving over time. Biodiversity and respect for nature remain central to that vision.
Native varieties including Timorasso and Barbera grow at 380 metres on clay and limestone soils. A holistic organic approach supports a balance between vines, woodland and arable land. Each parcel is treated as an individual cru, producing vegan wines that express its particular character.
Traditional techniques—indigenous yeasts, skin contact and extended maturation, including for whites—work alongside modern technology to produce clean, elegant wines. The style combines individuality and expressive character with freshness and drinkability.
Timorasso whites have shown considerable ageing potential. In 2020 the range received a new logo and Zen-inspired labels, created using non-digital techniques to convey nature, simplicity and movement.
I Carpini shares the vision of Evoluzione Naturale. Come and discover their stories and wines.
