Ferlat was founded in 1950 in Cormons, in the province of Gorizia, Friuli Venezia Giulia. After decades of selling wine in bulk, Moreno Ferlat and his father Silvano began bottling some production under their own name in 2000. Moreno now leads the estate, with Federica Tabacchi managing its commercial activities.

The 7.5 hectares of vineyards have followed organic practices for more than twenty years and have been certified since 2017. Natural ground cover, mulching and mowing manage vegetation; only organic fertilisers are used, with copper and sulphur for plant protection. Varieties include Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, alongside an unusual dry Moscato Giallo.

Artisanal cellar work relies on spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and no winemaking additives. Stainless steel and concrete vessels are used, with short or extended skin contact even for white grapes, giving the wines a recognisable mineral character.

Alongside its wines, Ferlat makes a distinctive gin from distilled wine and grape pomace, infused with fruit and aromatic herbs. Care for quality and Friuli’s winemaking traditions runs through the range.
