Fattoria di Sammontana lies in Montelupo Fiorentino, in Chianti’s Colli Fiorentini area. Once owned by the Medici family and later by the canons of San Lorenzo, the estate was bought in 1870 by Polish nobleman Michele Dzieduszycki. Two generations later, his grandson Massimo focused production on quality. The fourth generation now continues that history through organic and biodynamic principles.

The farm includes approximately fifteen hectares of vineyards and 3,000 olive trees on hills beside the Arno valley, at elevations of 70–150 metres. Stony alluvial soils are managed with green manure and biodynamic preparations such as horn manure and horn silica. Plant protection is limited to small amounts of copper and sulphur, and harvesting is manual.

White grapes are vinified in stainless steel and reds in concrete. No selected yeasts, winemaking additives, fining or filtration are used. Depending on the wine, maturation takes place in steel, terracotta amphorae or wooden barrels of different sizes.

The range extends from approachable wines such as Rosso Alberese, a blend of Sangiovese and Trebbiano Toscano, to Chianti and Vin Santo. Primo Fuoco includes a white, rosé and red matured in 500-litre terracotta amphorae, honouring the local pottery tradition. The wines express the estate’s land and long history through traditional methods.
