Fatalone is a five-generation family winery on a rocky hill at 385 metres in the karst Murgia south of Gioia del Colle, in central Puglia, around 45 kilometres from both the Adriatic and Ionian seas.

The estate describes itself as the first to bottle a pure Primitivo under Gioia del Colle DOC in 1987 and as a founder of the appellation’s protection consortium. Vertical tastings of at least ten vintages of Riserva Fatalone demonstrate its focus on ageing potential.

Small-scale production uses only estate-grown Primitivo and Greco, harvested by hand. Fermentation is spontaneous, sulphite levels very low, and wines undergo neither filtration nor stabilisation. The estate describes the wines as vegan and organically certified by ICEA, including to US NOP standards.

Music is used during maturation as part of the growers’ own approach. All production is bottled, with the original profile reporting around 90% exported. The vineyards surround the cellar, and the estate highlights solar energy, no irrigation and a commitment to reducing environmental impact; it also cites Eco-Friendly recognition for 2014–2019.

Fatalone seeks an authentic expression of its grapes, land and family personality.
