Famiglia Febo’s inherited vineyards are a living connection with its grandparents. The first Montepulciano vines were planted in 1964, beginning a rhythm of seasons that continues today.
The original profile describes seven hectares of Montepulciano and Trebbiano between Spoltore and Chieti, in organic conversion since 2018, alongside a hectare of trellised Pecorino and Passerina. The Spoltore cellar occupies the family’s nineteenth-century country house.
Davide and Laura preserve traces of its farming life, including old equipment and eleven concrete tanks. Four striking red-and-white tanks were bought by their grandmother with money earned selling vegetables and remain a particular source of pride.
Grapes are hand-picked into 20 kg crates, then destemmed and crushed. For Cerasuolo and Trebbiano, pressing separates skins from juice promptly, followed by spontaneous fermentation in concrete or steel. Fermentation is monitored without temperature control.
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo ferments on its skins in concrete and steel for a period determined by the vintage. Wines continue maturing until bottling, with the cool cellar helping them settle naturally. No physical or chemical treatments are applied before bottling.
Famiglia Febo seeks to interpret the land and its family roots through wine, combining tradition with care at every stage.
