After a career at Siemens in Germany, Davide Bentivegna left his management role to pursue a different ambition: making wines that move people. With neither previous experience nor family land, he had to build the project from the ground up.
The journey began in 2008, with organic farming and natural winemaking as guiding principles from the outset. His first wine, Notti Stellate Etna Rosso, was bottled in 2010 from the estate’s first vineyard in Contrada Galfina, Linguaglossa.
Etnella subsequently grew through the acquisition of further plots while retaining an artisanal approach and a strong sense of responsibility towards the environment, the local community, its customers and future generations. Davide’s team shares a simple goal: respect the land, respect one another and create happiness through its work.
Hospitality experiences welcome visitors into the vineyards of Etna, making the farm a place for exchange as well as winegrowing.
The estate follows Etna’s longstanding agricultural traditions, taking account of lunar phases and carrying out most vineyard work by hand. Copper and sulphur treatments are used sparingly. Fermentation relies on the grapes’ native yeasts, with sulphite additions and filtration used only when considered necessary.
Etnella shares the values of Evoluzione Naturale, bringing together thoughtful farming, hospitality and wines shaped by their volcanic home.
