The Del Bono family’s presence in Monticelli Brusati is recorded in documents of Rodengo Saiano’s Olivetan abbey from the twelfth century. Their history is one of working the land. Brothers Aurelio and Emilio named Casa Caterina after their mother, recognising her contribution, while their father Francesco continued helping in the vineyards.
The estate’s vineyards are trained to Guyot and spur-pruned cordon. Sites including Gaina, Colombaia and Persaga in eastern Franciacorta combine favourable exposure, substantial soils and steep slopes.
Production is small and carefully tended. The original profile describes a transition towards biodynamic production, with the first wine made through that approach in 2004.
