Casa Brecceto began in 2017 when friends acquired a small estate in Irpinia. Their experience in artisanal and natural wine goes back to Arajani Enoprogetto, founded in 2001 from the vision of Oto Tortorella, Igor Grassi and Fortunato Sebastiano.
The estate is at Ariano Irpino in the southern Apennines, a meeting place of traditions, languages and farming cultures. The original plan centred on one tiny-production wine: Pitatza, pure estate-grown Aglianico, selected rigorously and matured patiently.
The range expanded, with the original profile outlining eight wines for 2022 from Aglianico, Fiano, Coda di Volpe, Greco and Piedirosso. Fermentation has always been spontaneous, with minimal sulphites added only at bottling. Work is mainly manual, without elaborate cellar technology; maturation uses amphorae, steel or wood according to the vintage.
Mountain vineyards often stand above 650 metres. Summers remain cool and winters cold; harvest can continue into November, sometimes after snow. Soils include coloured clays, sands with marine deposits, organic matter and, in some plots, abundant stones.
The farm follows organic practices and applies biodynamic preparations. Its aim is to bottle a little of Irpinia through traditional varieties while creating shared value and pleasure.
Casa Brecceto shares the vision of Evoluzione Naturale. Come and discover their stories and wines.
