Cantina del Frignano began in Pazzano, in the heart of the lower Frignano area, with a vision shared by Giorgio Muzzarelli and Beppe Bellei. The estate has more than five hectares of vineyards at elevations of 450–500 metres, where pronounced differences between daytime and night-time temperatures help the grapes develop their quality.
Founded to make wines with a strong sense of place, the winery grows local varieties including Malbo Gentile, Uva Tosca and Lambrusco Grasparossa, reflecting the region’s winemaking history. Its commitment to sustainability includes organic production since 2015 and VinNatur certification, with very low sulphite additions to preserve the wines’ natural character.
Alongside still wines, the winery makes white and rosé traditional-method sparkling wines with a second fermentation in the bottle and extended ageing. Its marl soils, comparable to those of Champagne, are well suited to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, producing particularly elegant sparkling wines.
Careful work in the vineyard and a hands-on approach in the cellar underpin the estate’s philosophy: every wine should express the place it comes from.
