Giovanni, Antonio and Walter founded Caccianemici BioAutoctona in Sasso Marconi, near Bologna, in 2020 during the pandemic. Their aim was to farm with high environmental standards and a light footprint. The original profile reports ICEA organic certification from the 2021 harvest for half the estate, with the remainder in conversion.
They rented a cellar and 3.5 hectares of vineyards at Mongardino and planted or acquired a further 2.5 hectares at Scopeto. Mongardino’s established varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Picolit and Chardonnay. At Scopeto, the principal project focuses on native Grechetto Gentile, Alionza, Negretto and Barbera.
Another five owned hectares at Scopeto are used for rotating crops, including forage, durum and ancient wheats and pulses, supplying grain, flour and pasta.
The estate seeks to make wine and food grounded in its locality while recovering knowledge and practices that have been neglected.
Caccianemici shares the vision of Evoluzione Naturale. Come and discover their stories and wines.
