Aurete is based in Esperia, within the Monti Aurunci natural park, between sea and mountains. The estate links the area with the ancient ager Caecubus and its wine heritage. Soils reflect Cretaceous geological uplift, with reddish-brown clays rich in mineral oxides.
Biodynamics and the recovery of native Reale Bianca and Raspato Nero are central, alongside an interest in Syrah. The growers planted 3.5 hectares and restored half a hectare of ungrafted Raspato described as dating to 1840.
The three wines—Thero, Sauro and Raptor—use indigenous yeasts, with no filtration or additives, and ferment and mature in amphorae.
