Aquila del Torre began with a shared dream between father and son in Savorgnano, within Friuli Colli Orientali. Claudio, formerly an entrepreneur in mechanical engineering, brought an experimental spirit to demanding hillside viticulture, restoring old Friulano and Picolit vines in 1996.
His son Michele, an agronomist and biodynamic grower by choice, now runs the estate. Eighteen hectares of terraced hillsides and the cellar form a single property. Varieties include Friulano, Picolit, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Merlot and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso.
Spontaneous fermentation and development on fine lees shape wines intended to reflect the land and its biodiversity. The vineyards form a natural amphitheatre on Eocene marl and sandstone, surrounded by woods, with views stretching from the Friulian Dolomites to the upper Adriatic coast.
