Established in 1925, Agricola La Torre is led by Lorenzo Pasini and Barbara Gargano, the fourth generation of a family rooted in Calvagese della Riviera whose agricultural landownership dates back to the mid-seventeenth century.
After around fifteen years of integrated farming, the estate completed its conversion to organic agriculture in 2020. It focuses on local grapes, particularly the rare Groppello di Mocasina.
Regenerative farming and agroecology guide vineyard management. Ground cover is cut in alternate rows, leaving space for beneficial insects and pollinators. In spring, taller vegetation helps retain moisture, improve soil structure and build organic matter.
Wild cover often includes nitrogen-fixing plants such as vetch and clover. Around 200 sheep graze the vineyards in winter, keeping vegetation in check and contributing to soil fertility.
Spontaneous fermentation and minimal intervention in the cellar reflect the estate’s belief that wine begins with a balanced ecosystem. Two hectares of woodland beside the Palazzo vineyards form a wildlife corridor and help moderate summer temperatures; seven beehives sit between vines and trees.
