Evoluzione Naturale 2026: artisan wine, markets, regions and new perspectives

Italian and European producers meet in Grottaglie to discuss the market, wine regions and artisan viticulture.

Grottaglie, 25–26 January 2026 — Evoluzione Naturale returns for its seventh edition. Dedicated to artisan and natural wine, the event has established itself over the years as one of southern Italy’s leading meeting points for producers, industry professionals and the specialist food and wine press.

As in previous years, the 2026 edition takes place at the Antico Convento dei Cappuccini in Grottaglie. Two days of tasting tables, discussions and guided tastings take a fresh approach, focusing not only on wine but also on the economic, cultural and human context in which it is produced, distributed and discussed today.

At the heart of the event are the tasting tables, featuring around 60 producers from across Italy and several European countries. The selection offers a broad picture of contemporary artisan wine, encompassing regional identities, different farming approaches and personal interpretations of natural winemaking.

Italy’s participating regions include Abruzzo, Basilicata, Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Lombardy, Piedmont, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany, Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto. A substantial international presence brings producers from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, France, Germany, Portugal and Hungary, offering an opportunity to compare the different expressions of artisan wine across Europe.

The tasting tables provide a chance to meet the winegrowers directly, encouraging professional exchange, a deeper understanding of wine regions and thoughtful tasting beyond purely commercial considerations.

Among the main new features of the 2026 edition, the workshop “Sguardi sul mercato del vino” — Perspectives on the wine market — offers an in-depth reflection on a challenging period for the sector. After years of sustained growth, artisan wine now faces a slowdown that raises questions while opening up new possibilities. Rather than offering ready-made solutions, the workshop creates a space for listening and analysis grounded in first-hand experience, individual perspectives and observation of the market as it is.

Alongside the discussion, Evoluzione Naturale 2026 presents “Mille Metri”, a guided tasting devoted to high-altitude viticulture. This sensory and cultural journey explores verticality as more than altitude alone: slopes, light, thin air, difficult soils and demanding agricultural work. Six artisan wines from some of Europe’s most rugged mountain areas will reveal how altitude affects aromatic profiles, acidity, structure and ageing potential, and how winegrowers’ work changes fundamentally in such challenging conditions.

The event is preceded on Saturday 24 January by Fuori Salone, hosted across selected venues in Grottaglie and the surrounding area. This informal occasion strengthens the connection between the event and its local area, offering opportunities to meet producers and enjoy early tastings in a convivial setting.

With its 2026 edition, Evoluzione Naturale strengthens its identity as a cultural event as much as a wine fair: a place for examining the present state of artisan wine critically, without nostalgia or oversimplification. Wine becomes a way to tell the story of agricultural work, market dynamics and the changes taking place across the food and wine world.
